How to wash your wig hair properly?

    JamesBy JamesApril 11, 2021No Comments4 Mins Read

To take care of your wig made of real hair and keep it in maximum condition, it is good to observe a number of rules. Washing such a wig is not difficult. Human hair, which has been specially prepared for a wigs like Lace front wigs and Headband wig, should be treated with softness because it is more fragile.

We recommend washing a wig made from human hair once every two to four weeks. Each wash shortens the life of the wig, so it was no more than necessary. Also use any styling products in moderation. Incidentally, a protective hair cap or net also extends the lifespan. This prevents your scalp from coming into direct contact with the wig.

    What is the best method?

    1. First, comb the wig with softness. Start with the hair ends and comb – in layers – to the top. Treat any tangles with patience and dedication and use a spray to detangle if necessary.

    1. Moisten the wig by gently running cold water over it. With short-haired wigs, this can be done in the sink. For longer hair, we recommend doing this in the shower or with a handheld shower over the bathtub.
    2. Then gently squeeze the water out of the wig, but do not twist the hair! Then apply a small amount of shampoo for natural hair wigs to your palms. Run smoothly over the hair with both hands, from base to ends. Do not twist or knead with your fingers; you do not have to massage the shampoo!
      4. Rinse the shampoo gently from the hair after shampooing. Then carefully press the remaining water out of the wig. Finally, gently pat the wig dry with a soft towel.

How do you use conditioner in a wig?

If the wig is still slightly damp, a wig conditioner with natural hair can be used. Apply the liquid to both palms and gently work the conditioner through the hair. Avoid contact with the cap of the wig, as this could damage the attachment of the hair. Leave the conditioner on for about 10-15 minutes. While the hair still feels smooth, you can gently untangle any tangles. This is best done with your fingers or, if necessary, with a wide-toothed comb. After the treatment, rinse the wig cold again. Gently squeeze out the remaining water with your hands. Again: don’t squeeze or wring. Then gently pat dry with a soft towel. Finally, if desired, you can apply some special oil that gives the hair bounce, suppleness and protection.

What is the best way to dry and style the wig with real hair?

A wig with real hair is best dried on a standard and without forced (warm) air. So simply place it in an airy environment. You can use rollers to put in curls. You can use a slightly warm hair dryer, but we wouldn’t. Besides rollers you can also use other styling pliers, but do it carefully. There are special hair sprays for wigs with natural (human) hair.

There are many specialist which are offering all types of wig hair that can best suit your appearance and style. There is a wide variety to choose from. It is advisable to use such a wig which look similar to your original hair so that it may look as natural as your real hair. Moreover, sometimes wigs are too expensive so you can always select cheap wigs according to your budget.

    Extra tips

    – Store your wig on a designated stand. The convex shape should certainly not be too big, otherwise you will stretch the cap. That is bad for the form.

    – Direct sunlight is bad as it can fade your wig.

    – Don’t wear your wig when you go to sleep. Hair can come off and your wig can literally lose its shine.

    – Lighter-colored wigs are more delicate than dark ones because they have been treated more intensively in the production process.

    – Avoid contact with chlorinated water, sea water or hot water. They are all disastrous for your wig.
    – Over time, your wig will lose hair. It is part of it and in that respect a wig is no different from real hair.
