If You Consume Potatoes Every Day, What Would Happen To Your Body?

    JamesBy JamesSeptember 16, 2022No Comments3 Mins Read

Baked potatoes in the oven are a healthy and delicious way to consume potatoes every day. What would happen to your body if you did this? First, you would get a good amount of fiber from the potatoes, which is important for digestive health. Second, you would get a good dose of vitamins and minerals, including potassium, vitamin C, and B vitamins. Third, you would filling up on complex carbohydrates, which are important for energy levels. Fourth, you may even help to lower your risk of heart disease and stroke. So go ahead and enjoy those baked potatoes!

However, if we subsisted solely on potatoes, what would happen? Come on, let’s investigate:

Substantial Nutrients Besides Glucose Are Found In Potatoes

It is often forgotten that potatoes are also a good source of protein and fiber in addition to carbs. The flesh of the potato also includes magnesium, iron, zinc, salt, and calcium, while the skin is a good source of potassium. Vitamin C and fiber, both beneficial to skin and digestive health, are abundant in these.

    Supports Strong Bones

Potatoes’ nutrient profile includes bone-healthy minerals like calcium, magnesium, and zinc. In addition to zinc and iron, collagen development in the body depends on vitamin C. Together, calcium and a small quantity of phosphorus are needed for optimal bone mineralization.

    Advantageous To Cardiovascular Health

Myth has it that eating potatoes will increase your cholesterol levels. Cholesterol is not found in potatoes. Cholesterol is typically added during the cooking process, especially when deep frying. There is no cholesterol and enough vitamin B6, vitamin C, fiber, and potassium. For example, research has shown that diets high in fiber have a positive effect on blood cholesterol levels.

    Reduces High Blood Pressure

It is recommended that people with high blood pressure reduce their salt intake to achieve and keep their blood pressure at a healthy range. However, boosting your potassium intake is also crucial since it promotes vasodilation (the widening of blood vessels). Calcium and magnesium, among others, are known to have a similar effect on the body, resulting in a reduction in blood pressure.

Are Potatoes Something You Should Consume Every Day?

Yes, if you practice good portion control. The most challenging and important step is to consume a tiny amount of it daily. Including a potato of moderate size in your diet won’t hurt you and may help you maintain a healthy lifestyle. Unfortunately, two of the most typical blunders we make involve the potato: eating items made with potatoes that have been deep-fried or are covered in cheese. Also, we tend to overeat because we lose track of how much we’ve eaten.

Incorporating Potatoes Into Your Diet In A Healthy Way

As a side dish, potatoes should take up no more than a quarter of a person’s plate.

Potato size should not be increased. An analogy for a medium-sized object would be a computer mouse.

You should avoid frying at all costs and instead opt for other methods when preparing potatoes. They turn out great whether baked, roasted, or steamed.

Do your best to clean them thoroughly so that you can make full use of the skin.

Feel free to season to taste, but remember to go easy on the salt.
