The popularity of spray sunscreens has skyrocketed in recent years, due to the ease that they inject into the task of getting your younglings safeguarded against the sun. However, they require a certain approach to get the best from them. That said, some people do make the odd error when using the best spray sunscreen for kids, meaning they risk trouble.

The good thing, however, is that you’ve found this blog, which details five of the most common errors that people make when using these spray-activated sunscreen products. Forewarned is forearmed, so stay with us until the end so you know what to look out for.

Errors People Make Using the Best Spray Sunscreen For Kids

So, what exactly do people do wrong when they’re applying the best spray sunscreen for kids? Let’s dig in and see the prevalent mistakes that get made.

Error #1 – Not Applying Enough

One of the main errors that parents make when using spray sunscreens on their kids is not using enough – a problem that occurs due to these types of products tend to be put on too thinly. As such, you need to apply it more generously than you might initially think so that it has a similar consistency to lotion when it’s placed on the skin. Fail to apply enough, and you’re going to leave the skin vulnerable.

    Error #2 – Missing Areas

When putting lotions on the skin, it’s normally really easy to see what you’ve covered and what you haven’t. Not so much with a spray. That’s why it’s easier to miss areas, particularly when talking about the back of the neck, backs of the ears and the tops of the ears – all places that will be very painful if affected by sunburn.

Error #3 – Inhaling the Spray

If you’re not focusing carefully enough, you can spray the sunscreen at just the wrong moment, which can lead to someone getting it in their mouth or even inhaling it. This can be unpleasant at best or harmful at worst. It’s for this reason that the manufacturers suggest spraying it into your hand first before applying it to the skin.

Error #4 – Forgetting to Rub it In

What you can’t forget to do is rub the sunscreen in. It’s a fairly easy thing to spot when you haven’t, but you might be surprised by the amount of people who don’t remember this step. If you spray it on and do nothing else, you could end up leaving gaps that result in sun damage.

Error #5 – Using it On Particularly Windy Days

While our last point is not something you’ll have to think about every time you go out – you do have to be mindful of the issues presented on windy days. Depending on where you live, the coast can get pretty blowy, and it can mean you have less control over where the spray goes. This can lead to uneven coverage and, again, more chance of getting burned.

Don’t Make the Same Mistakes With the Best Spray Sunscreen For Kids

As we’ve seen, there are a number of things that can get in the way of the protection that’s supposed to be provided by spray sunscreen. Thankfully, the stated issues are quite easy to avoid.

Your family’s skin is precious, so you should do everything you can to make sure it stays safe – especially when it comes to your kids. Do so with the advice we’ve provided here, and you should have no problem.

It takes just one episode of sunburn to increase the chances of skin cancer later in life, so it is more important than simply avoiding sunburn. Using spray sunscreen properly and that’s not a worry you’ll have to contend with as a parent.
