Car Accident Injuries That Might Not Show Up Right Away

    JamesBy JamesJuly 16, 2022No Comments3 Mins Read

If you were in a significant car accident, your injuries would probably be visible externally. However, some injuries might not appear immediately, or if your accident were mild, you would not experience any pain or injuries.

So it is best to consult a doctor immediately after your car accident you see whether you have any severe internal injuries. A gruesome car accident might cause internal bleeding, which might not have immediate symptoms but needs to be treated urgently. Otherwise, the victim can face life-threatening situations.

While the treatment should be your top priority, along with that comes heavy medical expenses for checkups and medicines. You will need to file an insurance claim as soon as possible. Dealing with the insurance company won’t be easy, so hiring a car accident attorney in Roseville who can deal with the insurance providers while you focus on healing is best.

Injuries that might not show up immediately after a car accident

    • Soft tissue injuries

Soft tissue injuries occur in the internal body parts apart from bones. Soft tissue injuries include ligament tears, muscle rupture, tendon damage, etc.

While these injuries might not cause pain or discomfort immediately after the car accident, they strike back after a while. Usually, the more you prolong the treatment, the more complications will occur.

Although our bones are strong enough to sustain a minor car accident, the soft tissues in our body can be easily damaged by the force of the accident. Soft tissue injuries can cause tremendous pain, restricted movement, and swelling. However, the symptoms of such injuries do not show up immediately, so they can cause more discomfort.

    • Concussions

Even though your brain has strong protection provided by the skull with a layer of fluid in between, the extreme force applied in a car accident can come in contact with the head. If this happens, you can experience concussions.

Concussions can cause severe damage, and the symptoms do not appear for quite some time. At the same time, the apparent signs of concussions are unconsciousness or disorientation of your bodily functions.

Other symptoms that can be subtle are brain fog, lack of concentration, short-term memory issues, nausea, dizziness, lethargy, blurry eyesight, etc. If you experience any of these symptoms after your car accident, rush to the doctor immediately and get a check-up.

    • Back injuries

Back injuries are widespread after a car accident. An extreme force can be applied in a car accident, affecting your back adversely. Due to this force, you can experience a severe jerk or push on your back, resulting in a spinal cord injury or can damage to your vertebral column.
