    How Can Reading Fiction Reduce Stress?

    There are many ways of making time for yourself when you are bothered by too much stress. But what if there is an easy way to escape from all these? It does not mean that you have to physically travel to another place. All you have to do is read fiction books such as Megan Hess books, and you can take your mind out of this real world. Don’t fret if you are not an avid reader. All it takes is just six minutes of your time to immerse yourself in the story and relieve your stress levels. On the first day of the week, start your day in an entirely different world before you begin your daily routine.  

    Reading Fiction Is More Effective

    Based on research, reading fiction is more effective at relieving stress than taking a walk, sipping tea, or simply listening to music. The truth is your stress levels can be decreased by 68% after reading. As your brain is concentrating on the story, your muscles will relax, and your heart rate will slow down. Since your brain will be doing so much work, reading can help improve your concentration and focus your energy. When you are reading a book with a strong narrative, it can likely last even after reading the book. It is because your brain will likely hold on to the story, so you will have something to revisit later on. When you start reading a book on the first day of the week, you will have an entirely new world to hang out with for the whole week!

    Reading Can Improve Your Emotional Intelligence

    Besides being an excellent stress reliever, reading can also improve your empathy and emotional intelligence. It is because you will be more involved with the lives of the characters in the story. Therefore, if stress can make you feel bitter towards others, then reading can help you be nicer!

    The best thing about reading is that you can choose what you want to read and when you want to read. Perhaps you can allocate a few minutes of your time in the morning to read, or you can take some time to read during lunch. You could read a book while taking transportation or right after you arrive at your home. Choose something that you like and can make you feel satisfied and calm. Social media feed and newspaper might not be the best options. How do you feel after you are done reading? If it has lessened your stress, then perhaps you can take more time to read!

    Select Your Adventure

    When choosing something to read, you have to ask yourself what genre is more suitable for you. Look in your bookshelf or visit your local library, or you can browse e-books from the internet. You can begin by reading Megan Hess books on the first day of the week!

    Find the Right Time and Place to Read

    You can always read anywhere and anytime you want. However, setting up the time and place to read can make your escape into the story much easier. Remember to focus on the story and nothing else. Avoid reading when the TV is on, do not listen to music, and not read when there are other people around. 

    Aside from relieving stress, reading fiction has a lot of benefits as well. So, it would help if you made time to read.
